Basic Insurance and Coverage

★ TOYOTA Rent a Car offers the following level of insurance and coverage system. ★

* The following amount of compensation will be paid for an unexpected car accident.

  • Bodily injury

    Unlimited per person
    (including automobile liability insurance)

  • Property damage

    Unlimited per an accident

  • Car damage

    Up to the actual value per accident

  • Physical disability

    Up to JPY 30,000,000 per person

Physical disability
Compensation will be paid for injuries to passengers (including death and residual disability) regardless of the degree of the driver’s responsibility (up to 30 million yen: the amount of damage will be calculated by the insurance company based on the terms of the insurance policy).
A List of cases are not covered by our insurance/compensation system
  • - An accident that has not been reported to the police (an accident without an accident report issued by the police)
  • - An accident caused by a driver not registered as one at the time of renting the vehicle
  • - An accident caused while driving without a driving license
  • - An accident caused while under the influence of alcohol
  • - An accident that has occurred after the original rental period has expired without advance notification of extension
  • - Other cases that violate the TOYOTA Rent a Car rental agreement
  • - Flat tire or wheel cap damage& lost are not covered by the basic insurance.
    In Japan, tire and wheel cap are considered to be extra accessories, not the part of the vehicle.
    However, Flat tire and wheel cap can be covered with insurance simply by purchasing NOC full coverage plan.

* In case of accident, the amount of damage that insurance does not cover or that exceeds
the insurance limit will be charged to the customer.
(Optional Choice: NOC Full Coverage plan. Special offer is available with 1,650yen/24hours coverage.)

  • Damage that exceeds the amount of limit will be charged to the driver.

    • - Physical disability :Up to JPY 30,000,000 per person
    • - accident caused while under the influence of alcohol will not be covered by the insurance.

  • Non Operation Charge(NOC) In the event of a car accident, car theft, car trouble or stains/damage on a car, if the car needs to be repaired and/or cleaned, the following fees will be charged as a part of compensation for business during the time of repairing/cleaning

    • - When the car can still be driven and returned to the planned location: 20000yen
    • - When the car cannot be driven and not toe be returned to the planned location: 50000yen.
    • - If the car is not returned to the office (for example, the car is left on the street, even if it can be driven), 50,000yen will be charged.
